Edmonton lost a great man on Friday March 4th, with the passing of Vic Mah at the age of 91. Vic owned & operated The Blue Willow Restaurant, and The Canterbury Inn, two of Edmonton's better known fine dining establishments. There wasn't a sportsman or a dignitary who came to Edmonton and wasn't familiar with this true gentleman. Vic sponsored many teams over the years but the 2 closest to his heart were the famed Blue Willow Angels baseball clubs, and of course the Oil Kings. With the help of his good friend "Wild Bill" Hunter, Vic purchased the Flin Flon Bombers WHL franchise in the late 70's & moved them to Edmonton, quickly renaming them the Oil Kings. The attempt to revive major junior hockey was not successful at the gate and after 2 seasons the club was sold & moved to Montana, becoming the Great Falls Americans. Vic will be sadly missed by all who came in contact with this fine, kind hearted man.
